Established in 2011, the Center consists of an advanced training facility with a bioskills lab. The integrated services offered at the Center include medical education, staff development, student educational experiences, health care preceptorships and hands-on training events for medical professionals across the health care industry.
The Center is a training site that allows physicians on the hospital's medical staff, and from around the world, to practice with some of the latest tools in the market.
We also host educational and training events for the next generation of caregivers: medical fellows, newly graduated nursing interns, and students from a variety of health care disciplines. Additionally, the Center isn't merely a resource for Baylor Scott & White Heart – Plano's staff and invited guests, but an important center of learning that focuses on a variety of specialties, not just cardiovascular care.
In late 2013, the Center of Innovation became a state-approved cadaver lab for the purpose of medical education and research.
Besides a training auditorium and cadaver lab, the Center of Innovation offers video and teleconferencing capabilities as well as live-case feeds from the hospital's Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Operating Room, and the Electrophysiology Lab.
Physicians are members of the medical staff at one of Baylor Health Care System's subsidiary, community or affiliated medical centers and are neither employees nor agents of those medical centers, Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Plano or Baylor Health Care System.
