A highly skilled team of professionals is focused on providing you with five-star service, while making your stay here as comfortable as possible.Your physician on the medical staff at Baylor Scott & White Heart – Plano is responsible for directing and coordinating your care. They will keep you (or, if necessary, a family member or friend) informed about your diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.
Our nurse practitioners and physician assistants work closely with the physicians and others on the interprofessional team, in order to develop a customized patient plan of care.
Hospitalists are physicians who practice hospital medicine and are often the attending physicians while you are with us.
A team of professional, registered nurses that specialize in cardiology provides 24-hour nursing care. They will update you on your care plan, teach you about your condition and treatment, and give you medicine and other care as needed. Never hesitate to contact your nurse, the charge nurse, or the nurse manager if you have concerns. There are several ways you can do so at any time. The nurse will give you the direct telephone extension where they can be reached during the shift, the nurse station can contact the nurse manager at your request, or you may press the call button at your bedside for assistance.
Our patient care technicians help you with walking, bathing, getting dressed and other tasks you are unable to do alone.
A respiratory therapist may be called to give you treatment that will help you breathe better and/or monitor your oxygen level.
These therapists focus on your rehabilitation, teaching you skills to help you live as normally as possible once you are back home.
The care coordination/social work team members work with your insurance company as well as help identify what your needs will be when you leave the hospital through a process called discharge planning. Social workers at The Heart Hospital Baylor serve as patient advocates, making sure your needs are being met, educating families, and providing support related to post-hospital care. They are available to lend a helping hand and may be contacted through your nurse or the Social Work office at 469.814.3399.
Our registered dietitians provide for your nutritional needs. They also work with you and your family to start planning a healthier lifestyle. Meals are always fresh and cooked to order. They arrive within 45 minutes on fine china, delivered by a courteous server. If you have questions about your menu, or to learn more about healthy eating or special diet options, please ask your nurse to contact one of our registered dietitians.
The hospital's concierge staff is ready to assist you with directions and answers questions about the hospital. They are also prepared to offer suggestions in dining and hotel accommodations in Plano and surrounding areas and will provide maps to help you find your destination.

We recognize spiritual needs as an important part of health, well-being, and recovery; for this reason, pastoral service is available to you and your visitors 24 hours a day. Our chaplain holds a weekly worship service at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, noon on Wednesday, and 8:45 p.m. on Friday, as well as special events and seminars throughout the year. Your priest, minister, rabbi, or other spiritual official is always welcome to visit with you and your family at the hospital.
Your suite is cleaned daily by the Environmental Services staff. Sheets are changed daily. If you would like additional cleaning services or if you have a compliment or concern you would like to share, please don't hesitate to speak with your nurse or contact Environmental Services at 469.814.3373.
The laboratory technicians may visit your room to draw your blood for testing.
Our radiology department staff performs x-rays and scans to help diagnose or track your medical condition.
