The "Living for Zachary Heart Screening" is a special screening program created for youth ages 12-22 that can help detect heart abnormalities that may lead to Sudden Cardiac Arrest. This screening is named in memory of Zachary Schrah, who died in 2009 from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a condition in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. When this happens, blood stops flowing to the brain and other vital organs. SCA usually causes death if it's not treated within minutes.
