Important Accreditation News: Advanced Heart Failure Certification
Earlier this year, THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of ApprovalTM for its Advanced Heart Failure program by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care. The certification award recognizes THE HEART HOSPITAL's dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission's state-of-the-art standards and recognizes exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for heart failure patients.
THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano is one of only two hospitals in DFW to earn Advanced Heart Failure Certification. THE HEART HOSPITAL underwent a rigorous on-site survey in April 2011. A team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated the hospital's program for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.

The Joint Commission's Disease-Specific Care Certification Program, launched in 2002, is designed to evaluate clinical programs across the continuum of care. Certification requirements address three core areas: compliance with consensus-based national standards; effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care; and an organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.
Chest Pain Center Accreditation
The Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC) has informed THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano that it has earned certification as an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI. This is the highest rating a health care organization can receive from the Society of Chest Pain Centers. The full accreditation came just days after a rigorous site survey on Friday, June 3rd, during which the hospital demonstrated its expertise and commitment to quality patient care by meeting or exceeding a wide set of stringent criteria as observed and confirmed by a team of SCPC's accreditation review specialists. The SCPC's accreditation process ensures that THE HEART HOSPITAL meets or exceeds quality-of-care measures in acute cardiac medicine. A multi-disciplinary committee spearheaded preparations during the past year for the June 3, 2011 site survey. The accreditation logo will soon be inserted into marketing materials to promote the new accreditation.
