Our advanced, 68-bed facility features:
The services we provide include:
Rigorously Trained Medical ProfessionalsBecause five-star service is embedded in our hospital's culture, we refer to patients as "guests." To assist us in maintaining this culture, we recruit skilled nurses eager to embrace our culture. In fact, we have assembled a team whose medical skill and experience is rivaled only by their commitment to providing five-star guest care. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is two patients to one nurse, but at THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano we feature two nurses to each guest for the first two hours following open-heart surgery. We also employ a nurse practitioner model that further improves the quality of care provided here. Teams of hospitalists and intensivists care for your patients through a multidisciplinary approach, from admission to discharge, to further improve guest care. We believe that providing five-star service promotes better outcomes and better guest satisfaction. By-products of providing quality service are higher employee satisfaction scores, better staff retention, and an attitude of innovation throughout the organization. Five-Star Guest AccommodationsYour patients will find our guest suites well appointed, but the suites also create an environment that promotes healing. THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano uses a unique bow-tie design with curved hallways that provides caregivers with a line of sight to almost every guest suite. Decentralized stations enable nurses to spend more time providing care at the bedside and less time walking for supplies and information. Each guest suite provides privacy and comfort to our guests while maintaining the space caregivers need to manage care. Our care model is based on the universal bed concept, which allows a guest to stay in one room while appropriate care is brought to them. Guest suites are used for recovery, CCU, step-down, and regular cardiac admissions. Although your patients will be taken to other areas for certain tests and procedures, such as cardiac catheterization or surgery, they return to the suite afterward for recovery. Quality OutcomesTHE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano has received a "3-Star" rating - the highest category of quality awarded by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) - which is awarded to only 10 percent of the hospitals reporting cardiac surgery data. Our approach is enabling us to experience impressive outcomes.
Prolonged ventilation at THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano (defined as ventilation after cardiac surgery greater than 24 hours) was 5.18%, compared to the STS national average of 9.2%. Additionally, THE HEART HOSPITAL Baylor Plano had better performance on other core indicators such as sternal wound infection and post-operative stroke. None of the patients having isolated coronary bypass surgery at THE HEART HOSPITAL had an infection, as compared to the STS national average of 0.3% and none of our patients had a post-operative stroke as compared to the STS national average of 1.1%.
